Searching for tech-driven solutions for the modern mental health care challenges.

Hi! My name is Karolina, and I am a psychologist and psychotherapist (CBT Trainee, year 4/4; DBT Comprehensive). I provide culturally compassionate, evidence-based mental health care, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Metacognitive Therapy. I collaborate closely with other clinicians and a network of trustworthy mental health professionals.

Building on the clinical experience, we are forming an early-stage startup currently in the ideation phase, exploring and shaping an initial concept for a new digital tool: the IKIGAI Lab App.

We continue to observe persistent barriers to accessing mental health support in Poland and across Europe.

People often face long waiting times for psychotherapy or must self-fund treatment, which is not feasible for everyone. At the same time, research consistently shows that computerised and tailored psychological interventions can be equally effective when offered to appropriately triaged clients.

Our goal is to create an app for psychotherapists that includes:

1. Tailored diary cards for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

2. Tailored diaries for Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

3. Online DBT skills training modules to support between-session skills generalisation

4. Online learning modules for Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (cCBT)

We have a concept for developing the app in a way that protects Protected Health Information (PHI) and can be adapted and validated through collaboration with professionals in our network.

This is not a wellbeing app. It is a clinician-led treatment tool designed to enhance therapeutic outcomes by enabling patients to learn and practise skills between sessions. Potential benefits include improved clinical outcomes in shorter timeframes, reduced overall treatment costs, lower clinician burnout through streamlined non-clinical work, and, potentially, shorter waiting times for treatment.

The concept is grounded in real clinical needs identified in daily CBT/DBT/MCT practice. Having observed varying levels of technological adoption across European mental health services, we understand which features are essential and which are most likely to support market adoption.
